Pupils from the School were graded as excellent when they acted as hosts at the 'Coffee Stop' in Burton Bradstock Village Hall for the first time recently.  Each of the monthly events is hosted by one of the variety of Village organisations ranging from the Church and the WI to the Bowls Club.  The pupils were supported by staff, governors and members of the Friends of the School in serving coffee, biscuits and cake to members of the public who dropped in to chat and hear about the class work done by the children.  They welcomed visitors as they arrived, helped them to their seats, took orders, waited on each of the tables and cleared away empties throughout the morning.  Many of the adults enjoyed learning about the current methods used in Maths calculations and the latest terminology in English grammar which, they said, was very different from what they had learnt in the past.  There were a host of compliments paid to the children which especially included reference to their politeness, confidence and their help in serving the customers and sharing details of their recent work. Praising the pupils, teacher, Holly Varndell, said,  'Everyone enjoyed learning about customer care and working with adults in the cafe environment. They earned great credit for themselves and the School through their pleasant way they engaged with adults and their enthusiasm for making sure that the visitors were served to a high standard throughout the morning'.  Howard Bongers, one of the regular visitors to the Coffee Stops, commented, 'Their smiling faces and impeccable behaviour were a delight to see and a credit to the staff of the School.'
