Pupils in Sails class wondered how the people of Jerusalem felt when Jesus rode into the city on the donkey.  We made palm leaves and wrote the word 'Hosanna' on them – this means ‘save us’.  We walked to the church and felt very excited just like the people of Jerusalem.  We lined a path to the church and waved our palm leaves in the air.  The church bells were ringing and we shouted Hosanna very loudly and all the way back to school!

When we got back to school Mrs Barrett showed us her palm cross and told us about Ash Wednesday.  Sails understand a little more about how happy and excited the crowds must have been on that day
