This afternoon at Forest School, Robins started the FS Session by enjoying the game designed as a gross motor skills warm up. Over the last few weeks Mrs Legg has enjoyed watching the children use their gross motor skills so today's session is going to focus on using their fine motor skills too. Today the theme of the Session was Hapazome. Hapazome is a form of eco-printing or natural dyeing that involves transferring coloured pigments from plant materials onto fabric by pounding with a hammer. At the beginning of the FS Session Activity "Hapazome", Mrs Legg taught the children the health & safety of using tools and modelled the task. All the children that attended the FS Session today listened first and then each produced a piece of hapazome artwork embellished with the homemade charcoal to create a imaginative landscape picture. Their artwork end results were great! For the end of the FS Session activity, the children focussed on a scavenger hunt to find the largest leaf and the smallest leaf in the FS Site. The children enjoyed comparing and measuring the leaves against each others. FS Certificates were awarded to the children who found the most suitable leaves. The smallest leaf had to be whole!! The children walked to the FS Site there and back today really well and safely. The children focused well throughout the session and fun was had. Well done.
